PROTOCOL- a set of rules that governs the communications between computers on a network


 Types of Protocol
1. Internet Protocol- is the primary network protocol used on the internet
2.Transmission Control Protocol- is connection-oriented network protocol used by major Internet applications such as the World Wide Web,email, remote administration and file transfer.
3. User Datagram Protocol- is a connectionless-oriented network protocol that allows computer applications to send messages, in this case referred to as datagrams, to other hosts on an Internet Protocol (IP) network.

4. File Transfer Protocol- is a standard network protocol used to transfer files from one host to another host over a TCP-based network, such as the Internet.
5. Simple Mail Transfer- Protocol is an Internet standard for electronic mail(e-mail) transmission across Internet Protocol (IP) networks
6. Hypertext Transfer- Protocolis an application protocol for distributed, collaborative, hypermedia information systems. HTTP is the foundation of data communication for the World Wide Web.
